I find it easier to act from actual acting experience then reading it in the web site honestly!
I think i would need to find an agent and keep up with what I'm doing right now, which is community theatre until i get a good opportunity!

Day Fourteen

I think Rent was awesome! I had no problem with it at all great production all around, it was definitely a pivotal production in Broadway because of the music and the subjects they were dealing with. I think the play was way better than the movie, it's the type of musical that's entertaining LIVE, it conveyed everything that it dealed with so well for me so much, i came out of it thinking deeply about those certain subjects it dealed with.

I think Rent changed Broadway by dealing with certain subjects, like homosexuality, prostitution, drug use, diseases like aids, and plus it had a diverse cast

I love my costume and make up, i look old and like I'm an angel or something ha ha, the costume Asian and very white and ghostly like so it aligns great with my character, and my make up makes me look wise and honorable and wisdom and honor is my character's whole life so you draw a picture for your self on how good it is for my character.

This resource gives some information on make methods used in some production but its mostly about teaching how to get different looks for different types of characters. I think Mulan will have be a very make up centered play because some old some have to mean, some who girls have to look like men, and we all have to look asian. With out make up the show isn't going to look right.

Day Ten

How did the many elements of theatre synthesize into Stomp and Peter Pan?

Umm, I think, Stomp was more of a technical type of production, the lighting and especially the sound, the sound system must of been really powerful to pick up some of the sounds on the stage, like the the scene with the match boxes, it was amazing how they filled the whole theatre with the sounds these match boxes made! I know with out that, Stomp really would have sucked! and with Peter Pan, I think that the props and scenery was their strong suit, they looked expensive, and with out that I really really would have hated the play.

I think Mulan though, has all the elements, and it's not just because I'm in it, I'm mean we're a lot of effort into everything and it's going to turn out great!

Day Nine

Hey guys,

Seeing Peter Pan was alright I was expecting a little more, like I thought Peter Pan should of been an actual kid than a grown man with a tattoo no less, but he did know how to move and sing so I can understand why they picked him, and one other thing that was a little off was the skate board under the alligator, it really surprised me that they didn't even bother to hide it in the costume or anything! The theater was really nice though and the food. If I had been the director I would have fixed those things.

and the other one is really cool because it gives solutions to many common problems in theater technology that I would have never thought of, and plus the whole web site is devoted to explaining lots and lots solutions for all aspects of theater, which is really cool.

Set day was iffy but OK, lifting and lowering the flats weren't fun but i honestly learned something in the end. I think the technical part of theater will be used for the avalanches and mushu.

Day Six

Hey guys

I LOVED STOMP! i have seen it before but it wasn't the same this one was actually funny, the performers on stage could act along with their talent. I liked the finale at the end of the show but i didn't like the middle because i found myself getting bored because it was all the same. It was cool meeting the performers, i didn't realize how many different places the performers were from all over. IT WAS REALLY GREAT!

I honestly had no idea what Kabuki was, some martial art, haha, but yeah i had no idea. I guess its a theater form the Chinese had using music, and dancing. The actual word "Kabuki" means song and dance and men are usually the actors in Kabuki plays but it was made by a women and at one point women were banned from Kabuki theater.

It says that it all started with a poem told during the Tang dynasty, and has changed as it's been pasted down from mother to daughter and was taught in school before the movie was made. I think its pretty cool that the story was passed on all the way to 1998 and for them to make a movie on it, and i think its even cooler that back in 600 AD China women told their daughters this story and weren't punished, but yeah it's a cool legend and a cool movie!

Day Two

Hey again guys





This is a link to the song called "Johanna" from the musical "Sweeney Todd", which is a musical based on actual murderer in 1800's London, the play's plot is about a barber whom had a beautiful wife, and a local judge wanted her all to himself, so he persecuted and threw him in prison and came to London 18 years later seeking revenge after finding out his wife was murdered. He becomes a barber again and kills his customers, waiting for the judge whom falsely prosecuted him and his wife, its a gruesome play, which surprised me because i had always thought of musicals as romance and goody goody stuff, but i was wrong and yet it is a story of love in a really messed up way and it has some beautiful numbers in it! It has become one of my personal favorites.

When I looked up musical theatre, the word "pathos" was used quite a lot. So I took a look and learned that basically, pathos is a form of persuasion using song and dance, it is supposed to hone in on the audience's emotions. It was used by Aristotle in his philosophies in rhetoric (which is the art of using language as a means to persuade through grammar, logic, and music) and Aristotle knows his stuff, he was not only a philosopher, but a writer too, a writer of theatre! When I think of musicals, i think of New York, Broadway to be exact, but New York isn't the only home to Broadway musicals, London actually has many famous theatres there and many musicals have been generated there, so that was cool to learn!

Day One

Hi, I'm Andrew or Andy, I have been in a few productions at HLT before, so I have an idea of what to expect from this course and Mulan. I'm really pumped for this honestly, I'm ready to learn new things about acting, theater, etc. plus I love the movie Mulan, I can't wait to see all of the shows we going to see, especially STOMP!, I love the movie and have wanted to see it live for years, and I will be glad to meet the performers personally! Auditions are always nerve wracking for me, but I'm confident in what i did, i went out for Shang and Mushu, and I think I have some stiff competition, so let the best man win! =) Like I said earlier, I've been in a couple productions at HLT, two years ago, I was in a small role in Cinderella Wore Combat Boots and recently I was in a little bit of a bigger role in High School Musical, and I hope I have even more exciting and fun experience in this production then I did in my previous productions!
